  1. Entry is open to all students aged 16 or over undertaking full or part-time professional photographic training, or full or part-time graphic design training of which photography is a major part at a UK based college or university.
  2. The person submitting the best individual entry will be deemed the winner and will be awarded the title of Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2008. Subject to prior approval by Penguin Books Ltd, the winner may also have their photograph published on the front cover of the next edition of the Penguin Classic novel – Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. The overall winner will also win a library of 100 Penguin Classics titles and a copy of the book, Seven Hundred Penguins.
  3. All photographs must be taken on Fujifilm Professional film. Merit winners must output their image on Fujifilm paper materials.
  4. Entry into the competition is free of charge and the number of entries is unlimited.
  5. All entries will be received online at: www.fujifilmstudentawards.co.uk
  6. The judges will choose up to 30 Merit winners from the entries received. Each Merit winner will be asked to submit a print for final judging within 30 days of the promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed Merit prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with the promotion rules.
  7. Merit winners must submit their prints on Fujifilm photographic paper, i.e. Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper, Fujifilm Multijet inkjet paper or Fujifilm Pictrography/Pictrostat paper without a mount or folder. Entries printed on any Black & White paper will be accepted. The maximum size for prints is A4.
  8. Images must be taken between 1 November 2007 and 31 March 2008.
  9. Please note that entries not presented as stated in the rules will not be accepted for judging.
  10. Entries are accepted from 1 November 2007. The closing date for entries is 31 March 2008.
  11. Merit judging takes place in April 2008 and the final judging will be completed by May 2008.
  12. A panel of experts from Penguin Books Ltd will judge the competition. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. Each Merit winner will receive 10 rolls of Fujicolor PRO160S professional colour negative film in 35mm or 120, one Penguin Classic paperback book of their choice and a copy of the book, Seven Hundred Penguins.
  14. The college or university that submits the most entries will receive £250 worth of Fujifilm Professional film and 100 Penguin Classics titles for their library. The relevant college/university tutor will be allowed to choose their preferred type of film.
  15. No responsibility can be accepted for any entries lost, delayed or damaged in the post or elsewhere.
  16. Copyright remains the property of the photographer at all times but each entrant grants Fujifilm UK Ltd a non-exclusive, sub-licensable perpetual, royalty-free, world-wide licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute and display any entry submitted as part of this competition in any format now known or later developed. Each entrant acknowledges that the Promoter may sub-license the rights in an entry to Penguin Books Ltd for use as part of a book cover and in any related advertising or publicity materials. If you do not want to grant these rights, please do not enter this competition. Further, each entrant warrants to Fujifilm UK Ltd that all parts of their entry are original, and made without the inclusion of material owned by any third party.
  17. Prizes are not transferable.
  18. If the quality of entries fall below the required standard, Fujifilm UK Ltd and Penguin Books Ltd reserves the right not to award a first prize or merit winning prizes.
  19. The competition is not open to employees, or relatives of employees, of Fujifilm UK Ltd or Penguin Books Ltd.
  20. By entering this competition each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.

The Fujifilm Student Awards 2008 have now closed. The winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation evening on Thursday 17th July.
